Agreement to Terms

These Terms of Service govern your use of Cook County Appeal, operated by SQD Taxtech LLC, and located at https://cookcountyappeal.tax. By using the website, creating an account, or purchasing a report, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the website or purchase a report.

What Cook County Appeal Provides

Cook County Appeal provides system-generated property tax appeal evidence reports for properties located in Cook County, Illinois. Reports may include comparable properties, public property information, calculations, maps, and other data intended to help homeowners evaluate and prepare their own property tax appeal.

Cook County Appeal is a technology platform. We do not file appeals for you, represent you, appear at hearings, communicate with the Cook County Assessor, Board of Review, or any other government body on your behalf, or guarantee any assessment reduction, refund, or tax savings.

No Professional Advice

SQD Taxtech LLC and cookcountyappeal.tax are not licensed, certified, registered, or approved real estate appraisers, brokers, salespersons, accountants, attorneys, or property tax consultants. Reports, comparable properties, recommended values, estimated savings, website content, and other materials are provided for informational use only and do not constitute legal, tax, appraisal, accounting, real estate, or property tax consulting advice.

Your Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

Data and Accuracy

Reports are generated from publicly available Cook County property and assessor information, vendor-sourced data, and automated analysis. We make reasonable efforts to present useful and relevant information, but public records and third-party data may be incomplete, outdated, inaccurate, or interpreted differently by assessment officials.

All reports, data, estimates, recommendations, and website materials are provided "AS IS" and with all faults. We do not warrant that a report will be accepted by any government body or produce any particular appeal result.

Accounts and Communications

You may need to provide your name and email address to create an account, receive a passcode, purchase a report, receive your report, request support, or use referral features. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep access to your email account secure. We may send transactional and service-related emails related to your account, purchase, report, refund request, or support request.

Payments and Refunds

Payments are processed by Stripe or another payment processor we make available. Prices, discounts, and product availability may change at any time before purchase. Refund eligibility is governed by our Refund Policy, which is incorporated into these terms.

Permitted Use

You may use the website and any report you purchase for your own personal, non-commercial property tax appeal purposes. You may not:

Intellectual Property

The website, report format, analysis methods, text, graphics, logos, software, and other materials are owned by SQD Taxtech LLC or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. Public property records remain subject to the rights and terms of the public sources where they originated.

Privacy

Please read our Privacy Policy to understand how we collect and use information.

Refer-a-Friend Program

The Refer-a-Friend program may allow a referrer to earn credit and a referred friend to receive a discount on a first report purchase. Referral credits and discounts are promotional, have no cash value, and may not be transferred, sold, or redeemed for cash.

Misuse of the referral program, including self-referrals, fake accounts, fraudulent purchases, or other attempts to manipulate credits or discounts, may result in disqualification, cancellation of credits, account restriction, or refusal of future participation. If a referred purchase is refunded, reversed, charged back, or otherwise invalidated, the related referral credit may be removed or clawed back. We may modify, pause, or terminate the program at any time.

Availability and Changes

We may update, suspend, or discontinue the website, reports, features, pricing, promotions, or these terms at any time. We do not guarantee that the website will always be available, uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SQD Taxtech LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost savings, lost data, assessment outcomes, appeal denials, missed deadlines, or tax consequences arising from your use of the website or reports.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim related to the website or a report will not exceed the amount you paid for the report giving rise to the claim.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to conflict of law rules.
